Coal is formed by plan material that was quickly buried in sediment. Coal provides just under 25% of our energy needs. Most of the coal mined today is used to generate electricity, cooking, or heat. There are several grade levels of coal. The best and cleanest grade is anthracite coal witch burns without smoke and produces almost no pollutants even though it is not common and is quite expensive.
