Petroleum means liquid rock and is the liquid form of fossil fuel. We use petroleum for things like heating and electricity. Petroleum is a nonrenewable resource and geologists are constantly looking for new oil fields. And one of the biggest oil fields in the United States was Alaska's Prudhoe Bay Field and is the largest known oil field in the United States.
